Guide to fragrance notes
Perfume notes consist of three distinct layers: top notes, heart notes, and base notes. These layers develop over time, creating a unique olfactory experience of your favorite scents.
TOP NOTES
The first impression...
These are the scents you notice immediately after applying a perfume. They are light, fresh, and designed to grab your attention. Top notes usually last for about 10–15 minutes before transitioning into the heart notes.
Common top notes:
Citrus (Bergamot, Lemon, Grapefruit)
Fresh herbs (Lavender, Mint, Basil)
Light flowers (Rose, Jasmine)
Spicy notes (Pepper, Cardamom)

HEART NOTES
The heart of the fragrance...
Heart notes are the core of the perfume. They emerge as the top notes fade and usually last for several hours. These notes are often fuller and define the main theme of the perfume.
Common heart notes:
Floral (Rose, Jasmine, Tuberose, Gardenia)
Spicy (Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Cloves)
Fruity (Peach, Raspberry, Blackcurrant)
Greens (Violet, Galbanum)

BASS NOTES
The basis...
Base notes form the foundation of a perfume, providing depth and longevity. They develop slowly and linger on the skin for several hours, leaving a lasting impression. These notes are often rich and full-bodied, and round out the scent.
Common base notes:
Woody (Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Vetiver)
Ambergris (Amber, Resins)
Musk
Gourmand (Vanilla, Chocolate, Tonka Bean)
Oud, Leather, Patchouli
